July 13th Brynna turned the ripe old age of 6!!
We had friends come for lunch and treats the day of and
then had a little party a few weeks later.
I received an American Girls Doll when I was 6 and had kept it all these years.
It needed a new head due to the fact that I had brushed and braided it's hair until it was bald and one of the legs had been detached by a little boy who will remain nameless.
So we sent if off to the doll hospital and happily it arrived just in time, all fixed and wearing a hospital gown and an ID bracelet, and complete with a certificate of health.
It is an antique, but Brynna was thrilled.
We've read the books together and poured over
the American Girls Magazines.
It's so fun for me to pass it on to my own daughter.
Happy Birthday to my darling girl, loose tooth and all!

TEA PARTY
Brynna and I had planned and been excited about having a few friends over for a little birthday tea party for months. Of course, in typical Dixon fashion, Maddox got walking pneumonia, and was quickly followed by Keyan, Tracen, and myself. We were SICK. I haven't been so ill in a long time and wasn't sure what to do about the party. We had already delivered the invitations and had other things going on in the upcoming weeks and then school starting, so I felt reluctant to reschedule it. Fortunately we had been on very strong antibiotics and so even though we still felt sick we were not supposed to be contagious. So, the party went on. We quarantined the sick boys in a back room and I made sure not to breathe on anyone and use hand sanitizer like a
crazy person.
Pics from the party:
Invitation
we made beaded flower rings for each girl as a place marker and party favor.
petit fours
fruit and chicken salad croissants
(thank you to my good friend Meryn who came to the rescue while I was sick and helped with the food)
yummy chocolate cake
making beaded bracelets - it proved to be much more challenging
than I had anticipated and ended in some frustrated little girls...oops.
see the stress on poor anneka's face
heehee!
On to the food!

Pinkies up!

Old fashioned games:
Musical chairs complete with accompaniment from Eliza who is already
an accomplished pianist.
Blind Man's Bluff
lots of giggling with this one!
opening presents
time for cake and singing
and a lovely time(hopefully) was had by all.
I saved one petit four for myself
and it was delicious,
worth all the cutting, and layering, and drizzling.
Yum!

ohhhhhhhhhh what eye candy!
that is a beautiful party, and what a pretty pretty little girl brynna is!
She is just a sweetheart.
And the original American Girls Doll!?? What an amazing thing to be able to share with her. love that.
What a gorgeous party! I still have my Samantha doll - all in tact and in great condition. If only I had a daughter to pass her down too - not looking so great with 4 boys in a row. Maybe a granddaughter?? :)
Way to make the rest of us lame'os..I mean MOMs.. look like trailor trash! This Tea Party looked like it was taken out of a movie. ADORABLE. I loved every bit of it. Especially how you decorated the cake! So unique, delicate, and pretty. Just like Brynna!
Good gravy, Sis! Where is the line between crafty and crazy? Seriously, it all looked beautiful. I was hoping for a cake with Jesus cradling a velociraptor on it, but Aimee did one better and bought tiramisu! Hooray for birthdays!
Now, feel better. That's an order.
Seriously?! Everything is so adorable, and you did it while you were on the brink of death!!! Crazy! I'm not sure how you do it, but it's all wonderful!
Love your parties! They always look so fun and are well-decorated. So fancy and classy!
